Mac Users can use Boot Camp Utility in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.5 Leopard to make their system dual boot with Microsoft. With this users can use both Microsoft and Windows operating system on one computer. But in some situation this may also result in serious problems that lead to data loss situation.
For instance while trying the to delete Boot camp partition that have been create especially by the Boot Camp utility or installing Windows partition then this process stops in the middle and cannot complete. Even then you go in the Boot Camp utility and click on continue button to restore the hard drive then you get error message that is listed below:
“BootCamp cannot restore Macintosh HD into one single partition.”
This shows that BootCamp can’t delete partition with Disk utility, it lists entire hard disk volume in the sidebar, but when you select the partition button and press the delete key then you gets below mentioned error:
“Cannot delete partition”
In this situation when you try to unmount the boot camp partition and clicks on eject then also nothing happens. Here you will get a map of the hard drive after you mark the hard drive on the top of the slider. Then the question arises as how to delete the partition in this situation?
So for deleting the partition it is important to follow the below given instructions:
- Insert installation disk of Mac OS X and then boot the system by pressing C key at the startup.
- Then select the utilities from top bar and then select the disk utility.
- After that select the hard drive from Disk utility application.
- Then choose partition from application
- It displays a map and from there select the partition you want to delete from the Map
- At last click on the “Minus” button, after this the partition gets deleted.
In case the above mentioned steps does not work then the only step remain is to format the hard drive and then reinstall the operating system this will surely resolve the problem. On the other hand it will delete entire stored data from the system. For this you can use third party software known as Mac hard drive recovery software. This software has powerful algorithm that performs advanced scanning of the hard drive and then restores the deleted data back in the safe and secure location.
