Extent Allocation causes data loss in Mac OS X

Sometimes this happens that the same disc space gets allocated to two different files in the Mac OS X operating system. This is normally known as extent allocation problem but the main thing is that it happens rarely but still when it happens then the situation becomes worse. In this situation user must not install any third party application. Generally this results in data loss. So in order to recover Mac lost data it is important to use Disk Utility and for that you need to follow some important points mentioned below:

  • You can easily use Disk Utility in Mac OS X to resolve this problem; this can help you to repair the problem simply without erasing entire volume. But in case the boot volume is not working properly then it becomes important to boot your system and at last you will have to run the disk utility in the affected Mac Volume.
  • When you will try to use Disc Utility Tool then user may becomes able to review the affected files.
  • If needed you can also repair Mac Os X Extended or Mac OS X Extended volumes.

But after using Disk utility the situation comes in which the user may recognize some important process they are discussed below:

Repair utility tries to move overlapped file data to new location.
If the move completes successfully, file is updated for using new location.
But in case the move fails, the data is not moved.

In case these entire situations doesn’t help in the recovery of the lost data then user may use third party software to resolve this problem they can use Mac Hard Drive Recovery Software. This software has read-only and non-destructive features that are incorporated with rich graphical user interface that enables easy recovery of the lost or deleted data. It has powerful algorithm that performs advanced scanning of the hard disk and safely recovers the lost data.
