Fix “inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read" in Mac OS X
The target Disk Mode is a unique boot available in Macintosh based operating system. It is also known as TDM in short, it targets the driver that is used in the system to work as FireWire mass storage device. Mac supports TDM, it starts loading then the operating system gets attached to FireWire port to the system to get formatting and partitioning and also for successful file transfer. But sometimes due to some reason the process fails, while trying to mount hard drive of system that is based on Intel based Mac OS and due to this reason volume becomes inaccessible. Not only this but worst happens when entire data gets deleted.
When the data becomes inaccessible then user encounters error message:
"You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read"
Reason behind this error message in Mac OS X operating system, is mounting of hard drive gets halted and due to this reason user encounters inaccessibility related issues. Generally in Mac OS X that uses Intel and is started in TDM, then in this case the hard drive gets mounted and starts working as expected. After this the error message appears and it comprises of Initialize, Ignore and Eject and in this user must opt Eject or Ignore to dismiss the error box.
Basically the drive that is started in TDM becomes unable to be mounted and it would have been mounted in non Mac format like FAT32 or NTFS. The FAT32 or NTFS file format and it is not read by Mac in Target Disk Mode. So it becomes important to resolve the problem as soon as possible otherwise it creates a lot of problem. For this user will have to format Mac OS X hard drive in the Mac supported file format and then use the startup volume to get able to be connected in FireWire port. While under TDM, you need a Intel based Mac system as the host system to be connected to the target system and being formatted.
So to “fix inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X” can read user can try inbuilt Disk Utility can be used as it is helpful to format and repartition the hard drive. In this situation user should not use PowerPC-based Mac to format the disk as the Disk Utility will successfully format the disk but you will not be able to start the Intel-based Mac from it. This is for sure that formatting will resolve the corruption and error problem.
But entire stored data gets deleted and to restore entire data user can try third party Mac hard drive recovery software. This software has powerful algorithm that performs advanced scanning of hard drive and then restores entire lost, inaccessible or deleted data in a safe and secure location.
