Fix “Wrong Volume Type” Error message in Mac OS X
Mac OS X operating system provides the feature to divide your hard drive into many volumes. Each volume can easily be used as separate hard drive and in it any type of data can easily be stored in it. In every Mac system there is at least one system or boot volume that contains operating system and each boot system comprises of file system like HFS, in order to manage data. But sometimes this happens that Mac system fails to identify the volume and due to this data becomes inaccessible. Worst happens when the entire stored data gets deleted.
For instance, while using Mac operating system user might encounter below given error message:
"-123 wrgVolTypErr Not an HFS volume [wrong volume type error or (obsolete) operation not supported for MFS]"Due to this error message, entire store data completely becomes inaccessible. And in order make the files accessible again, you are required to find out the main causes of this problem and then fix it. Only after this you will be able to resolve the problem. This error problem mainly occurs when the system becomes unable to recognize the format of HFS file system volumes. Corruption may also be the reason and this generally causes due to improper system shut down, virus infection, software/hardware problem.
To resolve ‘Wrong Volume Type' error problem user can try inbuilt Disk Utility, with this utility user can easily detect and fix the file system related problem. In case the corruption problem is severe then this inbuilt utility fails to resolve the error problem. If the corruption is severe then you will have to format the hard drive and then restore the valuable data from updated backup. In case available backup is also corrupt or is unavailable then user can try third party Mac Hard Drive recovery software this software is capable enough to restore deleted data. It has powerful algorithm that performs advanced scanning of hard drive and then restore deleted data in a safe and secure location.
