Data Loss in Mac OS X due to Volume Header Corruption

Hard drive of Mac OS X can be divided in to several partition which is popularly known as volumes. In this Mac volume is generally formatted by using file system, which can be in the form of HFS+, HFS, HFS wrapper, HFSX. Entire information related to the Mac volume is stored in volume header. And if in this condition any damage occurs in it then entire volume becomes inaccessible and due to this severe loss can be suffered by the user.

User can use Disk Utility which is inbuilt utility of Mac Operating system; this utility is helpful in fixing many drive errors of Mac operating system. The main work of this utility is to check the integrity and consistency of hard drive and file system. But there may occur the situation in which user may suffer from occurrences of error message after running this utility.

“Volume Header needs minor repair The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit 1HFS volume checked Volume needs repair”

And due to this error the disk verification process becomes inaccessible, still the volume header is corrupt and due to this reason the operating system of Mac is unable to be recognized hence cannot be accessed.

Basically the volume header is 1 KB file and metadata structure in Mac operating system. It is also parallel to the master directory Block for HFS file system. So it becomes important to resolve the error of volume header.

Resolution of Volume Header Error:

In order to fix volume header error it is important for the user to format the hard drive first; and then recreate the hard drive volumes and after all this reinstall the operating system at last restoring of deleted data can be done with backup. In case backup is not available then Mac Hard Drive Recovery software can be used as third party software.

It is one of the most powerful and eminent software that has especially designed to restotrdeleted data in Mac operating system. It has powerful algorithm with which it performs advanced scanning and finally restores the lost data in the desired location.

It can be used in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.4 Tiger, 10.3.9 Panther and 10.5 Leopard. The software supports recovery from HFS+, HFS, HFS Wrapper, HFSX and FAT file system volumes.
